I will admit that I used one improperly a few times and didn't think highly of it, but finally when I saw a bar tender use one with the full prying action I was amazed and have sworn by them in the years since. Waiter's (double-hinged) corkscrews are about as complex as a pair of scissors, so there should be very little that can be made improperly. But still there are so many horribly made ones available. Even oxo, one of the most widespread deluxe brands in the US, has not yet made a waiter's corkscrew that I would buy.
This one, however, is made almost perfectly. I have to confess that this is not my favorite of the small collection that I have, but it is by far the most durable. As mentioned in the description and title, this product is made entirely out of stainless steel that won't rust or corrode and will last for years. The curved handle is very sturdy, and for this style of corkscrew curved is best. It's easier to grip and requires the least amount of force to get the most amount of leverage. It also gives room for the mechanism to fold up into itself a little better.
The reason I say that this specific product is not my favorite is because I have an extremely similar one that has plastic around the metal handle. This makes it a lot more comfortable to use. I would imagine that if you would have to use this one to open more than 2 or 3 bottles that it could become uncomfortable. But since I treat these like many other kitchen tools, putting them in the dish washer now and then and sometimes storing them in a drawer with all kinds of abrasive and sharp things, a plastic handled corkscrew will probably sustain more damage than this all-stainless model.
